It is a fact, cracked heels can happen to anyone. This condition is mainly caused by insufficient moisture among other factors which are unique to each individual. This condition can range from mild to serious. For serious conditions it can be painful to walk and beget serious infections. One can be at risk of getting cracked heels through; cold or hot dry weather, certain illnesses, inadequate hydration and moisture. We share a few pointers on how to tackle this commonly human issue:
This is advisable as it helps eliminate dead skin cells that have accumulated. Before you scrub ensure to soak your feet for at least 20 minutes in water that has sea salt and coconut oil. Immediately after you are done with the soaking and scrubbing, moisturize your feet with a foot cream or carrier oil such as coconut or jojoba. To fully entrap moisture within your heels, wear socks or house shoes made of fabric.
- Applying coconut oil
Since cracked heels is caused by lack of moisture, coconut oil is great to use for applying on cracked feet as it traps moisture and helps speed up the healing process.
- Organic Bath Salt
This is a good remedy good as it has the ability to promote proper blood circulation on the feet. It also contains magnesium that helps detox the feet and make them glow.
Because of its great humectant properties (means it traps and seals moisture), it is an excellent medicine to cure cracked heels. It has the ability to retain moisture of the skin and helps to reduce the dryness and pain since it prevents the crack from going in deeper. You can add honey in the soak up water to enhance the moisturization process.
- Fruit explosion
Banana is one of the best fruits that is used as a remedy to heal cracked heels. Mash ripe bananas into a paste and apply onto affected area and leave for twenty minutes then rinse off. Moisturize your feet with coconut oil after use and wear a pair of socks overnight.
- Use olive oil
Olive oil is another great moisturizer, massage olive oil around the affected area as this stimulates blood circulation around the feet.

- Fill your tub or basin with warm water
- Add 3 tablespoons of sea salt
- Add 1 teaspoon honey and a pinch of turmeric
- Drop a teaspoon of coconut oil
- Dip in your feet into this concoction and wait for 20-30 minutes as you read something.
- Use a pumice stone or a scrubbing wand to remove your dead scales
- Rinse your feet, pat dry, and moisturize again with coconut oil
- Put on your comfy socks.
- Do not forget to drink water, as soaking up your feet does enhance detox and loss of water from the body.
